McLaughlin Research Corporation (MRC) is seeking a SCIF Operations Specialist who will support the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport RI. The Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) is the United States Navy's full-spectrum research, development, test and evaluation, engineering and fleet support center for submarines, autonomous underwater systems, and offensive and defensive weapons systems associated with undersea warfare. The successful candidate must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, schedule driven environment.
Responsibilites:
- Providing recommendations for the development and maintenance of the SCI Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) program.
- Performing SCIF entry and exit inspections and generating an inspection status report.
- Conducting training including: initial security program indoctrination of employees, annual refresher training; debriefing personnel as required; and maintaining all security training and documentation..
- Inputting, updating, and extracting data in security databases; providing a quarterly report and, providing metrics on Security Division SCI services.
- Attending weekly Special Security Office (SSO) meetings to provide technical inputs on security issues and provide task status.
- Marking, cataloging, and securing incoming new classified and controlled unclassified material in designated SCIFs.
- Maintaining existing logs for all classified or controlled, unclassified material.
- Destroying classified or controlled unclassified material and accounting for all destroyed documents in the filing system of record.
- Performing other SCI-related administrative tasks including filing, copying, faxing, scanning, answering phones, coordinating meetings, and scheduling conference rooms.
Experience:
- Must demonstrate knowledge of security classification methods, concepts, eligibility for access to classified or sensitive information and the process for granting personnel security clearances/accesses, and knowledge of commonly applied security principles, concepts, and methodologies in carrying out information, personnel, and physical security programs related to the protection of SCI.
- Specialist should have knowledge of the methods of performing such duties as conducting inspections and investigations, collecting and analyzing information, etc., and skill in weighing the impact of variables such as critical personnel qualifications, variations in building construction characteristics, access and entry restrictions, equipment availability, and other issues that influence the course of actions taken in resolving security questions and issues.
- In addition, applicants must demonstrate experience in the fields of physical, industrial, information and personnel security participating in SAP Security Compliance Inspections and Self-Inspections; reporting, documenting and investigating security incidents; reviewing and applying governing policy including Executive Orders, DoD Security Directives, and the JAFAN Series; and communicating orally and in writing with staff and supervisors.
