 Position: Systems Engineer I

 Nature of Role: The qualified candidate will perform multi-faceted tasking providing In-Service Engineering support to Submarine SONAR Systems in Newport RI. This work will be performed on site in Newport RI, there is minimal-to-no telework available.

 Responsibilities:

 Include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare/Maintain reports and written laboratory procedures to reflect the current and up-to-date standards and practices.
  • Provide In-Service Engineering Support to NUWC Code 15 SONAR and Sensors department.
  • Perform research for electrical, mechanical, electronic and hydraulic systems and components.
  • Develop and conduct testing for electrical, mechanical, electronic and hydraulic systems and components.
  • Develop/Update Technical Data Packages for conducting Technical Evaluations.
  • Develop/Update local work instructions for conducting Technical Evaluations.

Requirements: 

  • Ability to Obtain/maintain SECRET Security Clearance.
  • Effective communication, both verbal and written.
  • Possess ability to work in a team environment.
  • Complete tasks in a timely manner to support repair deadlines and/or ship’s schedules.
  • Exceptional organizational, critical thinking skills, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, with emphasis on Microsoft Teams Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, with all levels of the contractor and government/military organization.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
  • This work may require limited travel (less than 10%)

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field.
  • Familiarity with various types of computer hardware and software is desired
  • US NAVY Submarine experience is desired
  • Familiarity with SOLIDWORKS is desired
  • Familiarity in the following fields is desired:  Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Control systems, Engineering statistics, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) 

Work Location: Newport RI, minimal-to-no telework available.
